Empowering Our Team Through Safety, Wellbeing, and Professionalism

On Saturday, 22nd November 2025, Leinster Utilities & Groundworks Ltd held a comprehensive Safety Training Day, bringing together our dedicated staff to reinforce our commitment to safety, wellbeing, and professional standards.

The event reflected our ongoing focus on continuous improvement, teamwork, and respect within our workplace and for our valued clients.

Key Topics Covered

1. Manual Handling:
   Our team refreshed their knowledge on correct manual handling techniques to prevent injury and ensure the safe movement of materials and equipment.
2. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
   We reviewed the correct selection, use, and maintenance of PPE, emphasising its importance in keeping everyone safe on site.
3. Working Around Machinery:
   The session covered safe practices for operating and working near heavy machinery, focusing on vigilance, communication, and hazard awareness.
4. Safe Digging Practice:
   Attendees were reminded of best practices for excavation, including the use of detection equipment and following established procedures to avoid underground hazards.
5. Safe Driving:
   A critical discussion on safe driving behaviours addressed the risks associated with harsh braking, speeding, and other unsafe driving habits. We reinforced that everyone’s safety depends on responsible driving both on and off site.
6. Vehicle and Machinery Cleanliness:
   Maintaining clean vehicles and machinery is not just about presentation—it’s essential for safety and reliability.
7. Respect for Clients & Each Other:
   Building a culture of respect underpins everything we do. We discussed the importance of positive interactions with our clients and colleagues, ensuring a supportive and professional environment for all.
8. Daily Vehicle Check Sheets / GA2 / Near Miss / Good Catch:
   Regular vehicle and machinery checks, along with prompt reporting of near misses and good catches, are essential for early hazard identification and continuous safety improvement.
9. Pension – Auto Enrolment:
   Information was provided on the Pension Auto-Enrolment process commencing on 1st January 2026, ensuring all employees are informed about their contributions and options to opt out or suspend contributions.
10. Mental Health:
    Recognising the importance of mental wellbeing, we provided resources and guidance to help team members look after their mental health, reduce stigma, and support each other.
